On 9 March 2026, IDEAGOV (International Center for Decentralization and Governance) will host the international conference “Democracy and Global Governance: 21st Century Challenges” at the Centro de Estudos Avanzados (CEA) in Santiago de Compostela, with the collaboration and support of the Foro Económico de Galicia
This one-day conference will bring together leading international scholars and institutional representatives to examine the evolving challenges facing democratic systems and global governance in an increasingly polarized world. Through a combination of theoretical perspectives and empirical insights, the event will foster dialogue on political conflict, unilateralism, and the future of international cooperation.
With contributions from Jonathan Rodden (Stanford University), Pablo Beramendi (Duke University), María Luz Loureiro García (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela), Erik Wibbels, Guy Grossman (University of Pennsylvania) and Miram Hortas-Rico (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid).
